Dear OAHQ Members,

I am so honored to be able to serve as the President of this organization! I have been attending OAHQ meetings for several years and decided last year to volunteer my talents. I have enjoyed the speakers, the networking, the opportunity to learn, and to gain continuing education. I used to reflect on the conferences and think to myself, what could I bring to this organization? Most of us who work in the quality arena think of ways to make things more functional, more efficient, how to improve, etc. Being a person who has experience in the managed care industry, I also wondered what I could do to help increase awareness and collaboration amongst hospital and managed care industries.

Taking an active role within the organization was a way to make my thoughts become a reality. We’ve incorporated some topics within this year’s conference that provide managed care and Medicaid information. It is a great start to continue to help OAHQ sustain and improve!

We are always looking for volunteers to assist our organization. Perhaps you’ve thought about ways that your talents can be an asset. If you enjoy giving back and appreciate what this organization has done for you…volunteer and help this organization to continue to be successful! We need you…VOLUNTEER WITH OAHQ!

Dear OAHQ Members,

First, I want to thank everyone for allowing me the honor to serve in this wonderful organization. Being a member of OAHQ has given me the chance to meet a lot of wonderful people and literally build lifelong relationships. The support of this organization has provided me with many personal and professional growth experiences that have afforded me opportunities well beyond what I could have ever imagined.

In case you haven’t been a member for very long, let me share a few facts about our organization. OAHQ was originally established in 1979 as the Quality Review Coordinators of Ohio, Inc. In 1992, the name was changed to Ohio Association for Healthcare Quality, Inc. Since we began tracking members in 1997, 2,134 quality nurses, infection control practitioners, case managers, medical records personnel, medical staff services personnel, risk managers, patient safety coordinators, educators, etc., have had a membership with our organization. Just knowing this information shows how dedicated and committed this organization has been to the membership it supports.

I’m happy to announce that we recently had two new members join our Board. Please help me welcome Shari Botts as a member at large and Jhera Woodard as the President-elect. You can read more about them later in the newsletter. We look forward to their fresh ideas and input in the coming months!

While I know you may already be aware, our past, current and future efforts are to support those in quality professional roles or those who seek quality roles in their respective organizations. Therefore, we clearly support those who wish to obtain their Certification in Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ). We offer educational opportunities throughout the year and then subsequently support those who have obtained their CPHQ by offering conferences/education throughout the year. OAHQ members are informed of these events first prior to any external communication we may do.
